- How to get 1% better at YouTube every day
How to get 1% better at YouTube every day
(and 37.78x better after a year)
Most YouTubers are making a big mistake.
They believe that if they post every week for a year, they are making progress.
This is wrong.
You are only making progress if you are improving on every upload.
If you aren't improving, you get trapped in the cycle of posting and hoping.
When nothing changes, you end up blaming the algorithm, and give up your life-long dream of becoming a YouTuber.
But here's the truth:
The problem isn't the algorithm, it's you.
Today, I’ll show you how to get 1% better at YouTube every day using a method I call the "AAA Formula."
Let's do this.

Analyse
First, I want you to create 3 different private playlists on your YouTube account.
These will be called:
• Ideas - For videos that have intriguing or unique ideas
• Packaging - For videos with an exceptional thumbnail & title combination that grabs your attention
• Intros - For videos that hook you from the beginning

As you consume YouTube, I want you to add videos to their relevant playlist if they stand out in one of these three categories.
It's time to study
I want you to set aside 30 mins/day for the next part of this process.
That's all.
If you're saying you don't have 30 mins, you're lying.
I can guarantee that you could be spending 30 mins/day less on your phone, or watching Netflix.
Remember, becoming a YouTuber is your dream. All I'm asking you to do is give yourself 30 minutes.
Then, I want you to pick one video from each playlist and spend 10 mins analysing it:
• 10 mins analysing why the video idea was intriguing
• 10 mins analysing why the thumbnail & title made you click
• 10 mins analysing why the intro hooked you
At first you'll find this difficult. You may only be able to write a sentence for each.
But as you do this every day, you'll get better and be able to write more.
You'll begin to notice patterns as to why something made you click or hooked you.
This is what we want because next you are going to use this information to transform your own videos.
Apply
Now, you are going to apply everything you've learnt in the analyse stage.
This is the most important part of the process.
Improving your video ideas
First off, I want you to create a database of video ideas, and I want you to add 3 to it every day.
This database can be as simple as a notes page on your phone.
Or you can use my free Notion workspace. I've created an area specifically for storing video ideas.
Again, at first you'll find this difficult, but as you spend time studying YouTube, generating ideas will become easier.
It'll become part of your daily routine.
You'll be coming up with video ideas on walks, in the shower, in the car, everywhere.
And as you do this everyday, you'll start to recognise what a makes a good idea.
It's time to get excited. Your brain is getting rewired into a YouTube machine.
So, our goal is to be publishing 1x video/week.
This means that if we're brainstorming 3 ideas/day, we'll have 21 ideas to pick from when it comes time to create our video.
As you repeat this process week by week, your database will expand and soon you'll have 100s of ideas.
From there, you'll be able to pick the best ones to execute on.
Remember, your idea is the basis of everything.
A good idea can save a bad video, a bad idea will never save a good video.
Ryan Trahan has a team of people just for generating video ideas.
They generate 60/month but only two make the cut for execution.
He understands the importance of good ideas.
Improving your thumbnails
With your thumbnails, start to apply the learnings you've found from the ones you've analysed.
Again, as you get better at the analysis part of the process, you'll begin to recognise patterns as to what makes you click.
Use that information to improve your own thumbnails.
You should also be creating at least 2 different thumbnail variations per video and A/B testing them.
These don't need to be complex variations.
It can be as simple as using different colour combinations or using different text.
If you're A/B testing them, YouTube will literally tell you what your viewers prefer.
Improving your titles
For each video, I always recommend you create 10 different title variations.
The reason you're creating 10 isn't to test them all.
It's because the first title idea you come up with won't be the best.
You're creating 10 to test multiple different angles of how the video idea could be portrayed.
The more variations you write, the sharper your idea becomes.
In 90-Day YouTube Accelerator, for every video idea I generate for your channel, I always come up with 10 different title variations.
Improving your intros
After analysing intros from different creators, you'll begin to notice patterns.
Patterns in the length of the intro, the language they use to hook you, how they transition into the main content.
I want you to steal those learnings and apply them to your own videos.
But remember:
Good thieves steal from many sources, bad thieves steal from one.
Become a good thief.
Adjust
Now we are onto the final stage of the process.
Set aside 30 mins/week for this.
I want you to find one big YouTuber in your niche, and one outside your niche.
Each time you publish a video, compare it to one of theirs.
I want you to write down 3 things they are doing better in the idea, packaging, and video.
Use these 3 things as learnings you can apply in your next video.
I know I said the goal was to be getting 1% better every day by doing all of this.
But the truth is, it's more likely you're getting 5-10% better. Especially at the beginning.
If you're getting 5% better every day, that means you'll be 54,211,841x better after a year.
Crazy, right? That's the power of compounding.
I know this seems like a lot of work but unfortunately this is what it takes to become a successful YouTuber.
And, in my opinion, sacrificing 30 mins/day for the goal of completely changing your life for the better is a worthy sacrifice.
One other thing:
If you're someone that's committed to becoming a successful YouTuber this year, I'm offering free 15 minute consultation calls.
On the call I will:
